The Hamblen County 4-H Shooting Sports Program is a volunteer-led program that teaches life skills and STEM principles through shooting sports. Youth learn safety and shooting techniques in the disciplines of archery, hunting, rifle and shotgun. This program is affiliated with Tennessee 4-H Shooting Sports and National 4-H Shooting Sports.

Archery

Youth in 4th-12th grade may participate in 3 different divisions: Genesis Compound, Open Compound, and Recurve.
This program runs January-April with weekly practice sessions and ending with the State 4-H Archery Jamboree in April.
There is a participation fee for archery that covers the following: entry fee to state jamboree, t-shirt, and insurance. There is a separate fee for the Morristown Archery Club.
Signing Day – October 29, 2024 from 6pm-7:30pm at the 4-H Extension Office.
2025 Archery Information Packet
Rifle

Youth may participate in 2 different divisions: BB or Air Rifle.
- BB – 4th-10th grade (16 years old is the cutoff)
- Air Rifle – any youth 5th-12th grade who has previously participated in BB and has been approved by the instructor and shooting sports coordinator to move up to air rifle.
This program runs November-March with weekly practice sessions and ending with the State 4-H BB and Air Rifle Jamboree at the end of March.
There is a participation fee for both divisions that covers the following: entry fee to state jamboree, t-shirt, insurance, and equipment maintenance.
Signing Day – October 29, 2024 from 6pm-7:30pm at the 4-H Extension Office.
Shotgun/Trap

Youth in grades 4th-12th may participate in trap shooting in the shotgun discipline.
This program runs January-May with weekly practice sessions and ending with the State 4-H Shotgun Jamboree at the beginning of May. Our team also participates in the Amateur Trapshooting Association AIM youth program and the Smoky Mountain Trap Series.
There is a participation fee and coaches can explain additional costs for this program.
