Tennessee Nutrition and Consumer Education Programs (TNCEP)

Various nutritious foods

The Tennessee Nutrition Consumer Education Program’s mission is to empower limited-resource families to:

  • Reduce the risk of poor nutrition;
  • Effectively use food stamps and related resources; and
  • Move toward self-sufficiency.

Families across Tennessee are joining with each other and with local agencies to learn through TNCEP programs. These groups are sharing ideas and resources to gain nutrition, health and management skills. With new learned skills families are building better lives for themselves and can participate in solving problems within their communities.

Through hands-on teaching programs, TNCEP families learn:

  • Wise Food Choices
  • Cooking
  • Food Safety
  • Good Health Practices
  • Family Wellness
  • Disease Control
  • Smart Shopping Skills
  • Money Management

TNCEP is Empowering People through Community Partnerships. This project is funded under an agreement with the Tennessee Department of Human Services in cooperation with Tennessee State University Cooperative Extension Service and Tennessee county coalitions.
