4-H Volunteers

4-H Project Group Leader

Organize and conduct a subject matter project group. A project group consists of 4 or more students with common interests who meet for a minimum of three times.

A project group volunteer will plan the subject matter group, facilitate and carry out the plan, and evaluate learning. The project group activities will provide the youth with a fun and cohesive approach to learning the subject matter.

Encourage members to participate in 4-H opportunities to showcase their completed project work, such as portfolios, Achievement Day, livestock shows, county fair exhibits, etc.

4-H Shooting Sports

Certified Instructor

Be a certified 4-H Shooting Sports Instructor. “4-H Certified” means that you are versed in the areas of youth development AND shooting sports.

If you want to lead a group of youth in the 4-H shooting sports program, you must become certified through a Tennessee 4-H Shooting Sports Instructor Certification Workshop.

Assistant Instructor

Assistant instructors help the Certified Instructor(s) in teaching discipline related skills to 4-H’ers. They will have some of the same responsibilities as a Certified Instructor but are NOT allowed to be in charge of live-fire events.

Volunteer Leader

As a shooting sports volunteer you will assist in supervising and behavior management of 4-H participants. You could be asked to assist with score keeping, collecting information and promoting activities for the discipline.

4-H Camp Volunteer

Assist 4-H agent in planning, organizing, and implementing a positive camping experience for all youth attending camp.

Give leadership in providing safe, healthy, and fun learning activities for campers, teens and adults.

You will attend mandatory camp training (6 hours) plus attend camp, Monday-Friday. While at camp, you will follow the same schedule as campers. You are expected to be at camp day and night.

4-H Cloverbud Volunteer

Provide leadership to the Cloverbud (K-3rd grade) program associated with the 4-H club or project group. A clover bud volunteer will plan the activities, facilitate and carry out the plan, and evaluate learning. Cloverbud activities will provide the youth with an eclectic, cooperative and fun approach to learning.

A volunteer may be a 4-H parent, a relative, a friend or a supporter of 4-H.

Volunteers may serve as judges, club or project leaders, chaperones, resource persons or promoters.

Volunteerism in 4-H is free.

Some training levels may have fees or travel expenses.

These positions are not paid positions.

  • Review all sections.
  • Complete forms in Steps 3-8. On Step 3 complete designed designated Volunteer Level.
  • Completed forms should be printed and signed.
